Summer Art Exhibition
Featuring art by Natasha Nayee
Natasha is a British-Indian artist from London whose practice is rooted in observation, memory, and personal narrative. She has drawn for as long as she can remember - an early portrait of her mother at age six marked the moment her family began to take her work seriously, and their support has remained constant ever since.
Although she initially pursued a more conventional career, Natasha returned to art during a sabbatical spent travelling across South America and East and Southern Africa with her partner. Sketching became both a record of her journey and a means of connection, leading to unexpected encounters - from time spent with a Brazilian family during Carnival to a chance meeting with a woman in Namibia who had known her grandfather decades earlier.
Since returning to London, Natasha’s focus has turned inward. Her recent series of portraits captures her mother in quiet, everyday moments at home. Created over several months, these works trace intimacy and time, bringing her practice back to where it first began.
